SONIC GYPSY: The clue is in the name.. featuring the return of the "dangerously friendly" off-grid shamanic ex Scorpio Rising (Sire/Warners) frontman Mickey Banks, and lead guitarist Sploote (Scorpio Rising / Electrafixion) alongside Ed Grimshaw from the brilliant Caesarians / Warm Jets (Island records) and Shireen Liane from Slingbacks (Virgin). After three ground breaking albums and blazing a rebellious psychedelic trail from Planet X in Liverpool to Reading festival via shows with Blur, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and others in just 3 short years, Scorpio Rising split in 1994. After 30 years in self imposed exile away from the world, living off grid - the core of the band is back with a brilliant new live band and a ton of massive new songs inspired by years of bizarre adventures in the wilderness and the completely insane world we live in.

Sonic Gypsy are currently in the process of recording a giant independently funded 20 track double studio album of brand new original material at Viva Recorders in London, working with an amazing group of musicians including: Ed Grimshaw (The Caesarians), Dwight Wharton (Buffalo Fish), Shireen Liane (The Slingbacks), RexOmatic (Angerland) Vincent Smith (Them Wicked Freaks) and Nick Steed (Colusseum).
The album is a massive panoramic rock n roll masterpiece, covering all of Sonic Gypsy's influences gathered over a lifetime of writing recording and living music, and is like no other album you will ever hear, completely out of time and space, it is both a personal expression of living through the trials and euphoria of human existence in the 20th and 21st centuries and a sonic kaleidescope of everything that the artform we call rock n roll can be.
Recorded over four years, with some of London's best underground musicians, using vintage Fender, Gibson, Mosrite guitars, Orange, Vox, Fender, Dynacord, Danelectro and Ampeg amps, vintage valve mics and featuring 20 songs about every part of this crazy reality we appear to live in and the times we live through: life, love, lust, revolution, friendship, freedom, heartbreak, protest.. you have to live it to write it.. so we did.. XX
